I would give this place zero stars if I could. We were very excited to try a church in the area, but within the first five minutes of the service wondered if we should leave. The music was so loud it triggered a migraine. We stood in the back and considered leaving, but decided to give it a chance, because if the sermon was good we figured we could just come after the music from now on. However, the loud, unbalanced music was better than the sermon. The pastor was charismatic in the way cult leaders (think Charles Manson) are charismatic. He said anyone who doesn't agree with him-- not God, not the Bible-- but HIM, the Pastor-- was a Satan worshiper. He also called people of other religions Satan worshipers as well. His views were reminiscent of a witch hunt in the 16th century. It was frankly terrifying to see people agree with him. This is not a church. It is not a house of God. I've worshiped in Churches and felt God's presence. This was a cult, feeding a leader's ego. He invoked one verse, gave no context to it, didn't even pray for understanding of the text. We stayed until the music started again, then attempted to leave so my migraine wouldn't get worse, but someone at the back literally blocked us and told us we HAD to stay. What kind of place locks its followers in?
I have been attending here for a year and 3 months and I have never felt so at home amongst my Sanctuary Family, they support me when tough times have come and helped me get back on my feet. I couldn't imagine myself anywhere else in terms of a place of worship while I am stationed here in Jacksonville, NC. It's a privilege to be able to volunteer my time and skills to the church as well.
Best band in town! Praise and worship is my favorite!
Been attending since mid October; love it so far. The Pastor brings the pure, simple TRUTH of God's Word every time. He is a good teacher and an even better preacher. Bible scripture is cited throughout every bit of the message. Many churches/Pastors preach a sugar coated message, but not this one. Nothing needs to be added to the Truth; and The Holy Ghost does the rest. I enjoy the music that leads the Praise, especially when a a traditional hymn is song with Joy and even a little more modern beat at times. I am also well pleased with the Youth Leader; I believe he is a Godly Mentor for my son.
This is an awesome church. The word of God taught there is great. I have been attending the church for almost a year and love it. After visiting several other churches, I found The Sanctuary to be the best by far. The people are friendly and most importantly the word of god is taught with much passion. In final the Holy Spirit, who is the ultimate teacher, just shows up and does his thing.
If you are looking for a good Christian house of worship, please keep looking. Find a place that preaches what Jesus actually preached, not a place that feeds on hatred.
