We went to their "complimentary" hot breakfast buffet, 20 minutes before the end and found all of the hot items empty, so I'd gone to the desk where 3 employees stood, because there was no one visible working the station and simply asked if more food would be made available or was breakfast over. The response I got was that absolutely the attendant would be bringing out more. We sat and waited 15 minutes later still no sign of anyone, and then the attendant comes out and begins breaking down service, so I approached her and explained we had been waiting and had even asked the front desk. She tells me no one said anything to her, but says she will heat us up something. We are just hungry so that was appreciated, but of course now we feel like we are putting her out. She was very apologetic, but who wants apologies. I wanted to enjoy the promised hot breakfast offered until 9 am, without having to feel like a prick for asking. Now I know, if breakfast is said to end at 9, apparently it really ends at 8:40 or who knows maybe earlier depending on what the staff feel like doing.
The people that worked the front desk were very nice to us always spoke to us and went out of their way to carry on a conversation or to be helpful. It is very convenient to stay there especially if you have someone graduating from bootcamp.
The lobby and the rooms were very clean. The pool was well kept and had steps gradually going down into the shallow end.
Horrible service by Andrea at the front desk. I had booked a king size bed room on Expedia but upon checkin at 11pm Andrea was giving me Handicap room, which I didn't want or I booked a Handicap room. She ask to canel my expedia bookin which was non refundable and book wih her directly for $20 more. I didn't understand why she cannot give me stand king size room which I paid for. I end up calling Expedia and reslove the issue. I didn't expect this from Marriott, I always stay at Marriott when travelling. RUDE EMPLOYEE
Friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, close to shopping centers and restaurants. Some restaurants also deliver food to your room, if you are so inclined. There is a hot breakfast every morning and free cold water and hot coffee all day long. Will definitely be back!
Customer service was exceptional from check in to check out. Even the food service worker was really nice. The room was clean. They had an outdoor pool and jacuzzi. Gym was clean and they had free weights. Breakfast was free. It was good. Didn't have any problem finding parking. Location is very close to multpile restaurants & shopping.
Sufficient room for the price and comparable to others in the area in terms of mediocre customer service, and room quality. I suppose that hospitality suffers in these military base cities due to the guaranteed business from military personnel and their families, there isn't much need for going the extra mile.
The room itself appeared clean, poor lighting for the vanity area, and amenities in the room had seen better days. The bathroom appeared to have been cleaned to the best of anyone's ability but the aged wall paper and fixtures made it feel less than so, and although the bedding didn't appear visibly soiled the linens didn't feel fresh. Definitely felt questionable. If I'd had to stay in the area another night, I would have found another hotel. In fact, had I not been thoroughly exhausted I would have changed hotels that night. In this case, I gave 3 stars instead of 2, because compared to other similar hotels in Jacksonville it's a tolerable nights stay. Too bad one can't have an enjoyable stay in the area. Next time I'd travel a little out of Jacksonville to New Bern where things are cleaner and better service is given.
